Call me maybe – an Installation to raise
awareness about Telephobia from the 17.01.2025.
The work will only continue to exist digitally.
The idea of the installation is to pay more attention to telephone
anxiety and the associated social phobia in general, as almost one
in three people in Switzerland suffers from a form of social
anxiety disorder.
The installation features a laptop with this website open. The
laptop is placed on a white cube, and it is connected to a mobile
phone from 2000s through which the viewer can interact with the
AI-Chat. Three cardboard walls surround the laptop so that the
viewer can enjoy a certain privacy. These walls are full of
stickers and posters from the 2000s to trigger the feeling of
nostalgia in the viewer. The viewer should feel like he has been
transported back to earlier times. Times when calling was the
number one means of communication. The website, as well as the
actual phone and the walls filled with posters support this
aesthetic.
